The Subtle Embrace

How long have you been waiting to find or achieve that something that will give you more peace, more balance, more acceptance of yourself?
So many accumulated experiences and yet there is still that feeling that something is missing.
Stop searching, you've arrived. The place of nutrition and rest you were looking for is in you. Welcome. Meditation begins as a tool of self-awareness that organically reveals all those layers that prevent us from seeing ourselves, to guide us to the magic of Being, to experience ourselves from freedom. How do you live from the soul?
A silent retreat is a space of self-awareness in which the conditions for the freedom of the soul are generated.

Where do retreats
take place?
At Refugio Terraza de la Tierra, in San José del Pacífico, a magical place in the mountains of Oaxaca (Mexico).
The place is easily accessible by road and is 3.30 hours from the airports of Oaxaca, Huatulco and 4 hours from Puerto Escondido. There is availability to arrive by public transportation and we also offer private transportation options.
It is an isolated space in oaxacan mountains, with a coherent lodging project that respects the environment. In this place the optimal conditions for silence are generated. The mountain is a safe space, overflowing with balanced nature, which generates a container of support to root you on the journey within.
The groups are very small, from three to a maximum of twelve participants.
Meals are offered privately to the cabins for greater privacy.

What is a silent retreat?A silent retreat is a space of self-awareness in which the conditions for the freedom of the soul are generated. We could list three common characteristics of silent retreats: 1. Contact with nature 2. Meditation 3. Isolation
-
What makes The Subtle Embrace Silent Retreats unique? It could be summarized in two words, love and integration. What makes The Subtle Embrace silent retreats unique is embodied spirituality. Everything is designed with deep care to learn to live from the soul. There are many ways to embark on silence and they are all valid, on the path of self-discovery for each of us different techniques and tools will resonate. In addition to nature, meditation and isolation, what make the silent retreats of The Subtle Embrace unique is the heart. Essential love, that which embraces everything and rejects nothing, is the light that guides our path to the freedom of the soul. The Subtle Embrace silent retreats are based on the teachings of Hridaya Yoga, and from this school of meditation all disciplines and contemplative traditions are embraced. As pillars, the teachings of Classical Yoga, Advaita Vedanta, Tantra are combined (with a focus on its expression from Kashmir Shaivism and Tibetan Buddhism). In the Silence retreats of El Abrazo Subtil, from that base of love, we fuse the classical teachings, the words of the enlightened masters, with the inspiration that art gives us and the challenges of contemporary embodied life .We place special emphasis on the body as a portal to the sacredness of existence. All paths point to the same thing, the essence of pure love that we are. The emphasis on integration is crucial in The Subtle Embrace Silent Retreats and at all times we keep in mind how to incorporate and bring into our daliy routine all thse learnings that may initially be felt on a distant or elevated plane. In silent retreats we honor human life as an experience of simultaneity of subtle planes, what are commonly understood as spiritual, and the physical, material plane, which is incarnated life. There is no escapism, rejection, or judgment, everything is perfect to embrace the gift of the soul experience in the human body. If what I share resonates with you, I invite you to simply open yourself to gift you this journey into the Soul.

What differentiates this retreat from a Vipassana retreat?Vipassana retreats have become enormously popular in the West and are inspired by the Buddhist tradition. Although they share the same essence “Vipassana is a path of self-transformation through self-observation”, in their execution and structure they are different. The Subtle Embrace Silence retreats are integrative, not exclusive to a single tradition. So in the container we co-created we introduced meditation techniques from various contemplative traditions, in addition to the Buddhist. The Silence retreats of The Subtle Embrace, although they respect all ideologies, are not religious in nature. Likewise, in their execution, the meditations are more flexible, respecting the body's needs at all times. Although immobility is invited and the potential of remaining in the posture to access deeper states of Being is contextualized, there is availability to make adjustments and movements if necessary. In addition, in the El Abrazo Sutil Silent Retreats, inspirational talk spaces are combined for the process and moving the body from the practice of Hatha Yoga.
-
How is a Silent retreat structured?Next, I share with you the schedule we follow during the Silent Retreats. As you will see, the meditation hours are combined with talks, Hatha Yoga practice and spaces for integration where you can merge with nature, write, continue meditating or take a nap :). The hours of meditation are progressive, we take breaks, in addition to introducing meditation techniques to apply them during the hours of immobility. 7 - 9 am Meditation 9 - 10 am Breakfast 10 - 1 pm Hatha Yoga Talk and Practice 1 - 4 pm Food and rest 4 - 6 pm Meditation & Hatha 6 - 6.15 pm Rest and Snack 6.15 - 8pm Questions and Answers, Talk and Meditation 8pm Dinner and Rest
-
Why are there talks if it is a Silent retreat? The talks are a support and a catalyst for everything that is opening up for the soul during the retreat. Each talk is designed to touch, to move something in you that helps you awaken. The talks are given by the guide, the participant only listens :)
-
Can I communicate during the Retreat?Yes, you can communicate in writing. There is a volunteer during the Retreat who acts as a bridge between the retreat guide and the accommodation place for all possible logistical issues that may arise, such as food, services and so on. In addition, any questions that arise about your process during the retreat can be written to the guide and are answered daily in the afternoon in the Questions and Answers section.
-
Can I read during the retreat? We recommend not reading during the retreat, not even books of a spiritual nature. The reason is because the container we generate is to allow everything that normally remains hidden in us to emerge, as a tool of self-discovery. Readings can be a way of escapism or distraction from the “discomfort” of being with ourselves. I'm an artist and culture is essential for my being, however, moments of retreat are very valuable, so we want to nurture and honor everything that allows us to connect more with ourselves. We have all the time in the world to continue cultivating ourselves through readings once the retreat is over.
-
What if I need to be contacted? We offer you the possibility of leaving a contact number so that you can share it with your family in case you need to be contacted.
